I don't think AI will make any of us dumber - we do a good job of doing that to each other! Long before AI tools emerged all of us forgot so much! I'm wary of raising expectations that we should remember everything with or without tools, forgetting stuff is very humanizing
You are probably right, I don't know what it all will amount to. As you say, I doubt AI will actually make us dumber, in terms of intelligence capacities. What I do wonder about are the knock on effects when our ability or, perhaps, interest in thinking hard, slowly, without satisfactory conclusions is weakened. Watch this space, I guess... !
